In the last few classes we’ve started to talk about sequencing of images in sequential art. As we’ve discussed, the amount of time you take to enjoy each panel of a comic is really up to you the viewer not the artist. In the next section we are going to be exploring a few things Scott McCloud introduced us to in Chapter 4 of Understanding Comics – the idea of, what you – the audience member makes up in your mind from panel to panel.

In our next class we will be transitioning from representing a story in a single image to multiple images; this is often referred to as sequential art or comics.
Today in class we went over the basic building blocks of time. Change: is the way we measure time, this could be the change from day to night, the melting of an ice cube or the change in daily temperature of the seasons.
For your final piece you will be able to reinvestigate an assignment or group of assignments which you find most interesting and or challenging and devise a project around that discipline. This is pretty open so please see me if you have any questions.

Today we talked about how our brain like to find patterns and structure. Part of this structure is the narrative we each tell ourselves, the narrative of our life. ‘You Are Not So Smart’ is an excellent blog and podcast which deals with how our brain works and how we can sometimes be fooled by it. In this excerpt David McRaney reads a section from his book which deals with narrative bias.
